I am incredibly passionate about positive parenting and being a conscious parent because I’m thankful for what it’s done for my daughter and my family!
The 5 books I’m sharing with you today are the books I read to teach me how to be a positive parent and educate myself on children’s brains and how they love and receive love.
What is Positive Parenting?

Parenting can be confusing and complicated, especially without considering which parenting style you want to adopt into your home.
I believe it’s crucial to ask yourself what kind of parent you want to be.
I have always asked myself, “How do I want my children to remember me based on my qualities and how I love as a parent to them?”

Positive parenting is about parenting behaviors that foster positive youth development.
This parenting is a continuous relationship between a parent and child that includes consistently and unconditionally providing love, teaching, communicating, and providing a child’s needs.
My Favorite Positive Parenting Books for Beginner’s:
1. Positive Parenting
I highly recommend starting your journey with this book!
Rebecca Eanes writes all about how to create more peace and harmony in your home.
She also points out that positive parenting is not permissive parenting. It’s a gentle, respectful, and kind way to parent without acting like you are superior to your child.
2. The 5 Love Languages of Children
The 5 love languages is an essential book to read for parents! It’s so important to learn which love language is your child’s most prominent and how to fulfill all of the other love languages for your child.
Gary Chapman gives examples of how to show each love language to your child. And he explains the importance of doing so, which is extremely helpful!
3. The Whole-Brain Child
The whole-brain child includes “12 revolutionary strategies to nurture your child’s developing mind”.
I learned how children’s brain’s mature and how they process emotions which leads to how they express these big emotions.
I highly recommend reading this book to understand how you can support your child the most healthily and beneficially with each development stage because it helped me so much!
4. The Awakened Family
The awakened family is a fantastic book about being a conscious parent.
Shefali Tsabary explains what that means and looks like to be a conscious parent and what it does not mean and look like.
This book helped me awaken myself and turn inward when frustration or sadness develops towards my child and even everyone else in my life!
This has helped me feel calmer and in control of my reactions to my child and loved ones.
5. How Children Learn
John Holt was an observer of children in their natural states. There wasn’t a teacher directing them or the children being in a laboratory.
This is something that very few developmental psychologists or educational researchers have done.
And through all of these observations, he found profound conclusions about children’s learning.
This is one of my favorite books that I recommend to every parent. Especially if you have started considering or have ever wondered what type of education you’d like to provide your child with one day.
